Overview
The Department of English at Sahara University offers a wide variety of courses in literature, writing, and linguistics. Our department is home to award-winning faculty and students, and our programs are ranked among the best in the country.
We offer a variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees, including BS in English Education, MS/MPhil in English, and a Ph.D. in English. Our department also offers a number of minors, including a minor in English and a minor in Creative Writing.
Our department is committed to providing our students with a well-rounded education in the liberal arts. In addition to our courses in literature and writing, we offer courses in history, philosophy, and other disciplines. Our department is also home to a number of research centers, including the Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in the United States, the Center for the Study of Women in the United States, and the Center for the Study of Religion and American Culture.
We offer a variety of extracurricular activities, including the English Club, the Creative Writing Club, and the Linguistics Club.

Program Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate an understanding of how communication shapes patterns of social interaction, the expression of cultural values and norms, political practices and relations of power, and our positions as local and global citizens.
Be able to use a variety of methodological tools to analyze interpersonal, intercultural, and rhetorical discourse that structures everyday interactions in both our public and private lives.
Demonstrate an understanding of the possibilities, problems, and history of discourse and deliberation in democracy and will be prepared to use their knowledge to work for a just and more humane world.
